シコク環境ビジネス株式会社は、2018年5月、本社と善通寺営業所の2事業所で、環境省が作成したマネジメントシステム　エコアクション21の登録・認証を取得しました。社員の環境マインドの育成・向上を通じた人材育成は、どの企業にとっても課題です。今回は、「エコアクション」の活動を通しての実践を取材しました。
 
【エコアクション21に取り組むきっかけ】
会社の基本理念「当社は、緑豊かな四国を事業活動領域として有し、当社のサービス活動を通じ、環境と共生しながら、地球環境の保全活動に寄与する総合的な環境管理会社を目指す」ことを実現するため、2015年8月に取り組みをスタートしました。この理念は約20年前から掲げられていますが、エコアクション21の実践を通して、より深く理念の実現ができると考えました。
 
【エコアクション21運用による変化】
第一に社員の環境意識の向上があります。社名に“環境”が含まれ、水環境に関わる業務を実施していることもあり、環境に関する展示会の視察や研修を通じて、世の中の流れをまず知ることから始めました。この取り組みは、今も継続しています。
 
最近では、浄化槽点検の際、周辺の雑草引きやごみを拾う社員が出てきて、お客さまからお褒めの声が届くようになりました。お客さまとのやりとりの中で、些細なことではありますが、できることは何かを社員一人一人が考える土壌が出来てきたと感じています。
 
また、これまでは、廃棄物の分別や薬品・備品類の整理が徹底できていない現状がありましたが、エコアクション21の活動でルールを決め徹底したことにより、習慣化した社員が増えてきていると感じています。廃棄物の排出量も減少し、薬品庫を設置して管理を始めたことで、労働災害の予防にも繋がっています。
 
【社員の声】
エコアクション21に取り組むにあたり、人材を配置したことや備品庫の購入、教育のための時間を確保したことが、成果を生んだと感じています。理念は大事ですが、具体化するためのヒト・モノ・金の準備も大切です。
 
環境活動の内容を社員にどう周知していくか、苦労しました。部門別の説明会の実施や掲示板・ポスターによる活動周知については、階段の踊り場や目に付く場所に、エコアクション21をはじめ、香川県の環境情報を掲示して、雰囲気作りに努めました。
 
香川県で開催されたエコアクション21の説明会で、当社の活動を発表しました。参加者や県の担当者から、取り組みが良くできていると褒めて頂いて、大変うれしく思いました。環境活動を通じて、地域での知名度が上がり、会社の名前がPRされると、やりがいも出ます。
 
【今後の展開について】
今後は、コストや労働安全で、どのような改善ができたかを、社員にわかるよう、成果を可視化する仕組みを検討しています。

シコク環境ビジネス株式会社は、トップのリーダーシップと部門長の参画、社員教育の徹底により、施設内のレイアウトや仕事の手順などの業務そのものを環境配慮仕様となるよう工夫し、コスト削減や労働安全対策につなげようとしていました。
 
このような環境配慮を基軸とした一体化による、企業価値と企業収益の向上や従業員の会社や仕事に対する誇りの醸成、顧客の満足度の向上、つまり「三方すべて得する」へつなげようという経営トップや幹部の方の意志と確信は、社内における広報活動を通じて、従業員にも浸透しつつあることがわかりました。
 
持続可能な社会に向けて、まだまだできることはたくさんあります。その中で、一企業の意志と実践の積み上げが、どれだけ大事かをこの取材を通じてあらためて実感しました。今後の取り組み継続と成果を実感できる仕組みづくりに期待しています。

　　In May 2018, Shikoku Environment Business Company acquired registration and certification for the management system Eco Action 21 created by the Ministry of the Environment at its headquarters and Zentsuji Sales Office. Human resource development through nurturing and improving employees’ environmental awareness is a challenge for any company. This time, we interviewed the practice through the “Eco Action” activity.
 
Opportunity to work on Eco-Action 21
　　Basic philosophy of the company: “Our company has a lush greenery as a business activity area and aims to be a comprehensive environmental management company that contributes to the preservation of the global environment while coexisting with the environment through our service activities.” In order to achieve this, they started their efforts in August 2015. Although this philosophy began about 20 years ago, they thought that it was possible to realize the philosophy more deeply through the practice of Eco Action 21.
 
Changes as a result of Eco Action 21 operation
　　First there is the improvement of employees’ environmental awareness. Since the company name includes the word “environment” and is carrying out work related to the water environment, they started out by first knowing the flow of the world through inspections and training on exhibitions related to the environment. This initiative is ongoing.
　　Recently, at the time of the septic tank inspection, employees started to pick up trash and weeds in the vicinity, and good comments from customers began to be heard. Although it is small, they feel the interactions with customers created a ground where each employee can think about what they can do.
　　In addition, until now, there has been a situation where waste separation and the organization of medicines and equipment have not been thoroughly implemented, but the number of employees who have become more frequent has increased as the rules have been thoroughly implemented in the Eco Action 21 activities. Waste emissions have also been reduced, and the establishment and management of a drug reservoir has also led to the prevention of occupational accidents.
 
Voice of employees about Eco Action 21 operations:
　　“When working on Eco-Action 21, I feel that having human resources allocated, purchasing supplies, and securing time for education have produced results. The philosophy is important, but it is also important to prepare manpower, goods, and capital for materialization.”
 
　　“I had a hard time trying to knowledge the contents of environmental activities to employees. We notice and worked for atmosphere creation by activities conducted by briefing session according to section, bulletin boards, and posters, which we posted environmental information of Kagawa prefecture including Eco Action 21.”
 
　　“We announced our activities at a briefing on Eco Action 21 held in Kagawa Prefecture. We were very glad to hear from the participants and the person in charge of the prefecture that we were doing well. When environmental awareness was raised in the community and the name of the company is publicized, it will also be rewarding.”
 
 
About future development
　　For the future, the company is looking into a system to visualize the results so that employees can understand what improvements have been made in terms of cost and labor safety.

　　Shikoku Environmental Business Co., Ltd. devises the work itself such as the layout in the facility and the procedure of the work into an environment-friendly specification by top leadership, participation of department heads and thorough employee education, thereby reducing costs and safety measures.
 
　　Management ids based on such environmental consideration as a basis for improving corporate value and corporate profit, fostering employee pride in company and work, and improving customer satisfaction. These three points are emphasized. It turned out that the intentions and convictions of the top executives are spreading to employees through in-house public relations activities.
 
　　There is still much to be done for a sustainable society. Among them is the accumulation of the will and practice of one company. The company looks forward to creating a system that will make it possible to realize future efforts and results.
